Microsoft's cloud for your app's infrastructure — hosting, databases, and storage — set up the account and grant us access so we can deploy and manage it.
Why we need this
Azure is where your app's infrastructure lives: the compute that runs your backend, the managed databases behind it, and the blob storage that holds uploads, files, and media. Calda needs access so we can deploy new versions, configure services, and keep an eye on your infrastructure.
Like all other accounts, this one should be owned by you. Your servers, data, and billing are tied to the subscription, so keeping it under your company means your infrastructure — and everything running on it — belongs to you, not us.
Do I need a credit card?
Yes. Azure requires a valid payment method to activate a subscription, and you're billed for the resources your app uses. New accounts come with free trial credits and some always-free service tiers, so early development often costs little, but the card still needs to be on file.
Billing stays under your account
Because hosting is a paid, usage-based service, the payment method and all infrastructure billing live under your Azure subscription. We'll help you right-size resources so you only pay for what your app actually needs.
Step-by-step setup
Create the Azure account
Sign up at azure.microsoft.com using your company email, then add a payment method when prompted. This creates your subscription — the billing container that every resource we deploy lives under.
Already have a Microsoft 365 account?
If your company already uses Microsoft 365 or Outlook for work, sign in with that account — Azure will attach the new subscription to your existing organization instead of creating a second one.
Invite Calda as a guest user
In the Azure portal, open Microsoft Entra ID → Users → New user → Invite external user, and enter the Calda email we share with you. This adds us to your organization so we can be given access in the next step.
Grant us access to the subscription
Open Subscriptions, pick your subscription, then go to Access control (IAM) → Add → Add role assignment. Assign the Contributor role to the Calda user you just invited — or Owner if we'll also be managing access and service principals for the deployment pipeline.
What we'll do once we're in
After you've granted access, we'll create the compute, databases, storage accounts, and any deployment credentials your app needs — you don't need to configure anything else or share any keys.
Confirm in Slack
Don't forget to notify us in Slack so we can accept the invitation and confirm that we can sign in and see the subscription.
