Shorebird
Over-the-air code push for your Flutter app — set up the account and invite us so we can ship updates without an app store release.
Why we need this
Shorebird is the service that lets us push over-the-air updates to your Flutter app: bug fixes and small changes reach your users in hours instead of waiting on an App Store or Play Store review. Calda needs access so we can create releases, send patches, and roll them back if something goes wrong.
Like all other accounts, this one should be owned by you. Your releases, patch history, and billing are tied to the account, so keeping it under your company means your update history — and the ability to ship to your users — belongs to you, not us.
Do I need a credit card?
Not to start. Shorebird's free plan requires no credit card and is enough to evaluate the service:
- Up to 5,000 patch installs per month
- Unlimited apps and releases
- 1 user
The catch is that adding collaborators is a paid feature. To invite Calda we need to be on the Pro plan ($20/month), which does require a card.
A paid plan is needed to add us
The free plan only allows a single user, so you'll need to upgrade to the Pro plan before you can add Calda as a collaborator. Billing stays under your account, and you can set a spending limit in the console so you only pay for the patch installs your app actually uses.
Step-by-step setup
Create the Shorebird account
Sign up at console.shorebird.dev using your company email. Account creation is free and takes only a few seconds.
Upgrade to the Pro plan
Open the account settings in the console and upgrade to the Pro plan. Collaboration is locked on the free plan, so this is what unlocks the ability to add Calda.
Set a spending limit
Your spending limit defaults to the price of the plan. You can adjust it in the console and Shorebird will email you before you reach it, so there are no surprise charges.
Invite Calda
You can share access at two levels — pick whichever you prefer:
- Organization — click the account dropdown in the top-left corner, then the "+" next to Organizations, open its settings, and click Add member. This shares every app in the organization.
- Per app — open your app's page in the console and add Calda as a collaborator there. This shares just that one app.
Either way, enter the Calda email we share with you.
We'll sign up first
The email you invite must already be tied to an existing Shorebird account, so let us know and we'll create ours before you send the invite — otherwise it won't be found.
Confirm in Slack
Don't forget to notify us in Slack so we can accept the invitation and confirm that we can sign in.
